Hi, I’m Diane Brown, founder of The Music Room Ayrshire, alongside my husband Stuart.

Master Rhythm & Melody Together

I started learning the trombone at age 9, and what began as a simple school lesson quickly became something that shaped my entire life. My teachers weren’t just teaching music—they built my confidence, encouraged me through challenges, and became role= models I looked up to.

They inspired me to go on to study music at the University of Aberdeen—and ultimately to create The Music Room.

Our mission is simple:
To give every young person the chance to experience music lessons that don’t just teach skills—but build confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that lasts.

Your lessons are shaped around your musical ambitions from day one.

From One Parent to Another

Behind Every Young Musician Is Someone Who Believes in Them
I know what it takes to help a child find their love of music — because I was that child.

My mum didn’t just take me to music lessons. She was part of the journey.

She listened to the practice sessions (and all the mistakes!), encouraged me through the frustrations, the tears and the tantrums, and helped me through those moments of self-doubt when I wanted to give up.

She kept showing up. Even when I hadn’t practised. Even when she questioned whether I was committed enough to justify the time, effort and cost.

Looking back, I realise just how much she gave me — and how much it mattered.

And look where that journey took me…
At just 17, I left home to study music at university. What started with music lessons as a child became something that shaped my confidence, my direction and my future.

Music gave me so much more than the ability to play an instrument. It gave me opportunities, resilience, friendships and a sense of who I was.

And every single step of that journey was worth it.

That’s what we want for your child, too.

At The Music Room Ayrshire, we know that learning an instrument is about so much more than getting the notes right.

It’s about building confidence. Finding something they love. Learning to persevere when things get difficult. Discovering what they’re capable of — and feeling proud of what they achieve.

We also know that behind every child taking those steps is a parent or carer making it all happen. We see the lifts, the encouragement, the reminders to practise and the commitment you make to help your child grow.

As a family-run music school, this is personal to us. We want every young person who walks through our doors to feel welcome, supported and inspired to discover just how far their musical journey can take them.

Because you never know where that first lesson might lead

With love for music,

Why Parents Choose Us

Music That Builds More Than Skill

We don’t just teach notes—we help young people grow in confidence, resilience, and self-belief.

Because the right music lessons don’t just fill time… they shape futures.

Every Child’s Potential Matters

Not every child learns the same way—and that’s exactly why we personalise our approach.

Whether your child is shy, energetic, struggling with confidence, or full of potential, we create a space where they feel supported, motivated, and proud of their progress.

Lessons They’ll Never Want to Quit

We believe music lessons should be the highlight of your child’s week—not something they dread.

Our students enjoy coming to lessons, connecting with inspiring teachers, and developing a lifelong love of music.
